Full Text

The Legislature of South Carolina assembled at Columbia, on the 24th ultimo; and Gov. Hayne transmitted his message the next day. It is a document of goodly length, as it was of necessity obliged to be, for it requires long and plausible argument to render the heresy of Nullification palatable, even in South Carolina. It is supposed the Legislature will, at its present session, make the Test Oath a part of the fundamental law of the State; although the Gov. does not seem to urge it very strenuously upon them.
