On Thursday last a ball was extracted from the leg of Jacob Barnitz, Esq. Register and Recorder of this county and at the knee below natural. The ball was of the weight of six grains but was much flattened and had been so firmly wedged in the leg that it rendered it impracticable to receive it before the original boring ext. 1776 at Fort Washington.
The patient has ever since been receiving a large incision around the carious wound and has suffered great [sufferings] for some length of time almost insupportable.
The prospect is, however, at present much changed. And while his family and friends cherish the hope of seeing him the long extended chain of woe, under which for 30 years he has languished; the public anticipate with pleasure the restoration of an useful officer and patriot of SEVENTY-SIX.
