Full Text

The above advertisement is calculated, no doubt intended, to impose upon the public, for reasons which the young man who wrote it can best explain. There is no money due upon any of the bonds mentioned in the deed of trust alluded to. I have repeatedly solicited, but in vain, a final adjustment and close of that whole transaction and have made frequent propositions of submitting to disinterested persons the examination of incontestible vouchers which I have, to prove the payment of every cent due from me for the purchase of Buckhill. Those vouchers may be at any time exhibited to such as may feel interest enough in the affair to take the trouble of calling at my Toll-house to see them. I shall in due time apply to the proper tribunal to compel a surrender of those bonds as well as of the deed of trust.

JOHN MAYO.

Main Argument

the advertisement falsely claims money due on bonds for buckhill purchase; full payment is proven by vouchers, and legal action will be taken to surrender the bonds and deed.
