ANIMAL MAGNETISM.
We saw some experiments performed at one of our hotels, in this mysterious science, which were truly wonderful. A young lady who has been blind from childhood, was thrown into the magnetic state, and described the figures of the curtains, the color of the dresses, the furniture, &c. in the room. She sat at the piano, and the magnetizer had a written request sent him, that he would will her to play the tune mentioned on the paper; which she did, without a word being spoken. Several tunes were played in this way without making a single mistake. The magnetizer then said, that by simply imagining the lady's handkerchief to be any animal which any of the party might write on a piece of paper he could make her tell the name, as written. A cat and a rabbit were successfully imagined, and she immediately told their names, and was pleased with them. The word rat was then proposed, and as soon as she took the handkerchief in her hand, she threw it away, and screamed. To make a sure test, the word elephant was written, and as soon as she got the handkerchief on her knee, she began to groan, and said, "Oh dear, what shall I do with that?" and after it was taken away, she felt fatigued.
Several other interesting experiments were made in phreno-magnetism, &c. &c. with wonderful accuracy. Several gentlemen have been trying to persuade that gentleman to give a public exhibition, to which we presume he will consent.
