$15,351,996 FOR THE NAVY.

Legislation Recommended by Secy Robeson Adopted by the Committee.

WASHINGTON, June 17.-The House Committee on Appropriations to-day directed Mr. Robeson, Chairman of the sub-committee in charge of the Naval Appropriation bill, to report that measure to the House for printing and recommittal, which he did this afternoon. The bill as agreed upon by the full committee appropriates $15,351,996, of which the following are the principal items: For pay of the navy, active list, $4,044,500 for pay of the navy, retired list, $607,925; for the pay of the navy petty officers, seamen, &c. (8,250 in all), $2,490,000: for contingent expenses of the navy, $100,000: Bureau of Navigation, $100,000; experimenting in lighting vessels of war by electricity, $5,000 Bureau of Ordnance, $250,000, of which amount $100,000 is to be expended for steel rifled breech-loading guns with carriages and ammunition: Bureau of Equipment and Recruiting, $700,000: Bureau of Yards and Docks, $220,000; Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, $122,000; Bureau of Provisions and Clothing, $1,050,000: Bureau of Construction and Repair, $1,770,000: Bureau of Steam Engineering, $2,200,000, of which $1,000,000 is to be applied in building and fitting the turrets and pilot house of the iron clad steamer Miantonomoh, in launching to the best advantage the monitors Monadnock, Puritan, Amphitrite, and Terror, and in completing the engines and machinery of such two of the last-named vessels as the Secretary of the Navy may think most expedient and best for the interest of the service: Naval Academy, $134,018; Marine Corps, $295,616. The legislation which Mr. Robeson embodied in his draft of the bill, and which has been referred to heretofore, was adopted.
