PRAIRIE CAR.—We clip the following from the Alton, Ill., Union. The speed of the steam car as tested, is from ten to twelve miles an hour:

We learn from Springfield that two trials have been made with Gen. Semple's newly invented steam car, and that it succeeds as well as the Gen. anticipated it would. This is gratifying intelligence indeed.

The car it is supposed will be able to travel at the rate of ten or twelve miles an hour over our common Prairies, with ease and safety. The value of this invention cannot be properly estimated.—

It is destined to measurably supersede the necessity of rail roads, and will effect a great revolution in the internal commerce of our State. We have not seen the car. but are informed that it is of a very simple construction, and the general opinion of those who saw it run, was, that it would fully answer the purposes designed.
