Ex-President Madison was invited to unite in the celebration of the late National Anniversary by his fellow-citizens at Orange Court house but was unable to attend due to a very feeble state from a tedious indisposition. He offered a sentiment according with the committee's sensibility to the painful aspect of national confederacy from conflicting opinions on important questions.
