JUNEAU, (AP) - Charred bones found in the cooling embers of a fire-razed log cabin three miles outside Juneau strengthened fears today that a man and his wife perished in the blaze.
The cabin was owned by Mr. and Mrs. Bud Ross, and U. S. deputy marshals said the couple had taken a taxi cab home from a party about 2½ hours before fire broke out early yesterday.
Bones, tentatively identified as those of a man, were found in the bedroom, smaller bones believed to be those of a woman were found in the ashes of the living room.
Cause of the fire was not known.
A fire truck raced to the Glacier Highway cabin from Juneau, but firemen were unable to approach within a hundred feet of the blaze because of the intense heat.
Ross was employed in the custodian's department of the federal building and his wife was on Governor Gruening's office staff.
