THE GRAND LODGE KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS
The Annual Session of the K. of P. Grand Lodge in Elkins last week was perhaps the most successful and enjoyable ever held in the State. The attendance was larger than any ever held. There were about 600 registered for the Grand Lodge and Grand Temple and at least 200 Dokies and at least 200 Uniform Rank members and visitors. The program as published in the papers was carried out to the letter. The weather was the best for a year or more and added greatly to the success of the meeting. Elaborate and complete arrangements had been made by various committees who worked splendidly to carry it all out and the visitors all went home to all the various counties and towns of the state, loud in their praises of Elkins and saying they would be back at every opportunity and when we get the Seneca Trail complete through the county and other hard roads we are working on, we will have a tremendous tourist traffic through this section.
The Grand Lodge voted to meet next year at Charles Town, Jefferson county on the fourth Wednesday in August. Bluefield put up a fight for it and cars were here all the way from that progressive city with banners on them boosting for Bluefield.
The Grand Lodge officers elected for the ensuing year were:
Past Grand Chancellor--W. W. Smith, Huntington.
Grand Chancellor--Vernon Fortney, Kingwood.
Grand Vice Chancellor--John W. Brown, Bluefield.
Grand Prelate--Thomas H. Neal, Cameron.
Grand Keeper of Records and Seal--J. Clark Miller, Fairmont, reelected.
Grand Master of the Exchequer--W. W. Long, Keyser.
Grand Master at Arms--Cecil T. Hill, Charleston.
Grand Inner Guard--Thomas Scott, Bluefield.
Grand Outer Guard--James L. Ducly, Wellsburg.
Member of Home Board--John R. MacKay, Parkersburg.
Grand Lodge Trustee--E. J. Ches. hire, Piedmont.
Supreme Representatives--John P. Arhenz, Wheeling and O. W. West, Auburn.
The Grand Lodge officers are well distributed over the state. The session closed late Friday evening, and by Saturday afternoon, all were gone.
