Full Text

Jim Parks.
The Union, of Sunday morning, says:
The Republicans of Bowling met at the Keller School House Saturday evening. * * James J. Parks, of Rock Island, who was present by invitation, made a speech on the issues of the campaign, showing up the records of such bogus reformers as Tilden, Stewart and Danforth.
Jim Parks is in pretty small business.
It can not be a matter of any interest to the public whether Mr. Danforth was a sinner or is a saint. It can not affect the result of the presidential election, nor the action of either party, and Jim Parks shows a great lack of subjects for discussion and pays a poor compliment to the intelligence of his hearers when he takes up their time with attacks on a man who is not a candidate for any office, does not hold any office, has not made a political speech for 4 years, and is not aware that he has ever given Jim Parks any excuse for offensive personal allusions of any sort.
Jim Parks may, perhaps make votes for the Republican ticket by going out into Bowling and attacking private citizens-but we doubt it.
