Above 25,000 young recruits of all arts and professions have been inveigled or kidnapped and sent abroad to the East Indies in the Company's service since 1755, whereof not one twentieth part have returned or will return; allowing 30 l. per head, the real essential loss to this nation in about thirteen years amounts to seven millions five hundred thousand pounds, nearly equal to the sum total of half a dozen Asiatick Nabobs with their annual revenues.
