Full Text

It is computed since the year 1755 to this present era above 25,000 young recruits, of all arts and professions, have been inveigled or kidnapped and sent abroad to the East Indies in the Company's service, whereof not one twentieth part have returned, or ever will return to their native country again, which allowing 30 l. per head, the usual value of each useful member in a political state, the real essential loss to this nation, in a series of about thirteen years, will amount to seven millions five hundred thousand pounds, nearly equal, it is presumed, to the sum total of half a dozen Asiatick Nabobs, with their annual revenues to the bargain; a matter meriting the attention of every free born Briton.
