Sept. 10. In the late Engagement near Minorca, after the Death of Capt. Andrews on board the Defiance Man of War, the Command of that Ship devolved of Course on Mr. Bishop, the First Lieutenant, who fought the Ship very gallantly, and behaved himself like a true born Englishman. After the Engagement was over he was summoned on board the Ramillies, and very severely reprimanded by the Admiral for fighting the Ship without his Orders, ordered to leave the said Ship, and reduced to the Station of Second Lieutenant on board another Ship in the Fleet; in which Station he continued till the Arrival of Admiral Hawke; who, being made acquainted with this Affair, immediately ordered Bishop to be restor'd again to his former Station and Dignity on board the Defiance.
