Charleston will have a new series of artists' concerts this year. The Crescendo club, which heretofore has confined its activities to concerts by local musicians, has announced that it will sponsor an artists' series. There will be three concerts, the first to be held on October 27, when the Russian Cossack chorus will be heard. Mme. Kathryn Meisle, contralto, of the Chicago Civic Opera company, will give the second concert, while the third artist will be announced later. The artists appearing on the Greenville programme this year are: Sophie Breslau, contralto; Charles Stratton, tenor; Carl Friedberg, pianist; Ruth Breton, violinist; Russian Cossack chorus; Tipica Orchestra of Mexico, and Zimmer Harp Trio.
