May 16. Last Saturday a Court-Martial was held on a Foot Soldier, belonging to the Second Regiment of Foot Guards, on the following whimsical Affair: A Gentleman in a Frolick being in Liquor, pulled off his Cloaths, and dressed the Soldier in them, and put the Soldier's Regimentals on himself; which being done, the Fellow march'd off in his new Dress, and sold the Gentleman's Watch for three Guineas. He was sentenced to receive 500 Lashes, 250 of them he received on the Parade in St. James's Park last Tuesday Morning, the Remainder he is to receive in a Month's Time.
