Full Text

An Information has been lodg'd at the Board of Excise by some Distillers, against a certain Apothecary in Tothill-street, for selling Quantities of Gin by Retail since the Commencement of the late Act: but we hear their Honours order'd it to lie on the Table, the Gentlemen of the Faculty being allow'd by the Act the Liberty of relieving a sick Patient. It is very hard, Hundreds of People that have laid out their All in Trade, should at once be depriv'd of it; and Persons not brought up to it, taking the Bread out of their Mouths, under Pretence of relieving the Sick; at that Rate, all the Gin-Drinkers will be sick, and it will be only the Apothecaries robbing the Distillers of their Trade, and the ill Consequences complain'd of, not remedied.
