But when it comes down to the final analysis, women still remain at a disadvantage. A man may roam wherever his fancy may lead him. But let a woman's curiosity lead her to certain places a night club for instance - and she'd have the whole world on her neck.
I like to walk alone at night just to be alone with my thoughts. But I am not out very long before some person looks askance at me, as if to wonder if I were lost. So I have to scurry right back home again like a good little girl.
Oh, for a world of real honest equality of sexes.
Did you see the picture, Little Women, starring Katherine Hepburn? I rather enjoyed it, with its old fashioned costumes and clean simple fun.
And yet, the smaller children didn't care so much for it. And one wonders why.
One would suppose that they had become quite accustomed to the thrills of the peppy, jazzy, sexy pictures that is the usual fare. In comparison, a simple little story like Little Women is rather tame, isn't it?
The picture made me wonder: Did the women of days gone by cry more than we do? It seems that way doesn't it? The present day girl takes life as it comes, laughing, fighting, if necessary, but seldom crying. I've seen girls trying desperately to drown their troubles with a deluge of merriment, good times.
Is our way better, after all? The increasing rate of suicide says no.
Perhaps the best way is simply to sit down and think our way out of any difficulties that may arise. If that can't be done, then what?
