Full Text
We invite the particular attention of our readers to the letter of Dr. Baker in this day's gazette. We delight in discovering and making known such a rare instance of a man professing democratic principles, and attachment to our present administration, who can yet retain some respect for religion, and some regard for law, order and subordination in society. The remarks of the Washington Federalist are a proper and sufficient reply to the apology which the doctor attempts to make for the conduct of Jefferson, in calling Paine to this country, and in patronizing and countenancing him since his arrival.
