The Legislature of Vermont met at Montpelier on the 12th ult. and on the same day the votes were counted, and Cornelius P. Van Ness, Esq. was declared re-elected Governor, Benjamin Swan, Esq. Lieut. Governor, and Israel P. Dana, Ezra Butler, Seth Wetmore, John Roberts, Truman Chittenden, Jabez Proctor, Orsamus C. Merrill, Chauncey Langdon, Samuel H. Holly, Josiah Dana, Samuel C. Crafts, Robert Pierpont, Esqrs. Counselors for the ensuing year. D. Azro A. Buck, Esq. was chosen Speaker of the House of Representatives, Timothy Merrill, Esq. Clerk, Oromel H. Smith, engrossing Clerk, and Norman Williams, Esq. Secretary of State.
