For the New-Hampshire GAZETTE.

Mr. Melcher,

By giving the following Queries a place in your useful Paper, you will much oblige one of your constant readers.

A FARMER.

Query 1. Whether there is a man in the State, who, in high sphere did more essential service for his country in hazarding his life, expending his fortune, and in raising and keeping up the spirits of the people in the late war than any other person in it?

Q. 2. If so—Whether the same principle of love for his country has actuated his conduct in time of peace, and whether that love extends to an endeavour to establish good laws, and to encourage home manufactory?

Q. 3. Whether he has been an inhabitant of this State for more than seven years, of the age of thirty, has an estate of £.500 &c. is of the protestant religion, and capable of acting in an exalted character?

Q. 4. Whether, if he has done more for the State, before the war, through the war, and since the war, than any other person, he is not the best man in it?

Q. 5. If such a character can be found, how we, as a grateful people ought to reward him?
