Alaska Open Chess Tournament to be Held In Fairbanks March 24-26

FAIRBANKS
The Alaska Open Chess Tournament will be held at Fairbanks USO March 24-26. The tournament is being sponsored by the Greater Fairbanks Chess Club, a United States Chess Federation affiliate, as part of the Fairbanks Winter Carnival.

Only USCF members will be eligible to compete in the six-round Swiss System Tournament.

Membership and tournament entry can be obtained prior to the first round of play, 2:00 p. m. March 25, or by writing to Peter Longley, Box 345, College, Alaska.

Entry fee is $5, $2 of which is refunded upon completion of all games without forfeiture. A year's membership in the USCF is an additional $5. USCF members are nationally rated, receive monthly copies of "Chess Life", and are entitled to discounts on chess books and supplies.

The Alaska Junior Championship title and trophy will be awarded to the player under 21 years of age who ranks highest in the final tournament standings.
