Great Damages have been done by the Floods in and about this City, particularly to the Gardeners: But a more extraordinary Thing than this happened in the new Buildings in Avon-Street in the King's Meads, occasioned by the above Floods; for they set a new built House on Fire, and had not timely Assistance came, in all Probability the whole Street had been consumed: It happened thus; several Sacks of Stone Lime being laid in the House close to a wainscotted Partition, and the Waters rising to it set it on Fire, which burnt several Yards of the Wainscot to a Coal.
