Full Text

Mexico and Spain.

It is hinted that Mexico is about to throw itself back into the arms of Spain. It would be singular indeed, if the latter power, when on the eve of losing her last foothold on our Continent, in the Island of Cuba, should regain her dominion over her oldest and most important colony, so many years an independent Republic.

This great revolution will be brought about, if at all, through the influence and agency of Santa Anna who seems to have become satisfied that Mexico, if attached, cannot resist the power of the United States, and that collisions are inevitable in the present distracted condition of affairs in that country. Hence his desire to unite its destinies with those of some one of the continental powers.
