Thousand Island Park, N. Y.,
July 23.—The boiler of the fleetest
yacht of the St. Lawrence, the Lotus
Seeker, was blown up at about 5 o'clock
Sunday afternoon while lying at the
private dock of the owner, Mr. E. R.
Holden, of New York, vice president of
the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western
railroad, who has a cottage at the Park.
The boiler was under a pressure of
150 pounds, its limit, and was blowing
off when the accident occurred. One
end was blown out. The two occupants, the engineer and fireman were
unharmed. The yacht was built two
years ago by Herreshoff, and could
easily make twenty miles per hour. Its
cost was $90,000. The damage will
amount to about $1,000.
