Full Text

We learn from the New York Statesman that Governor Van Ness has issued an eight column replication to the late publications of Mr. Slade and Mr. Bailey, relative to the Senatorial election in Vermont, which resulted in the signal defeat of the Governor, and in favor of Mr. Seymour. The Editors of the Statesman, who are evidently not Administration men, say, that, on perusing Governor Van Ness's present article, they do not find that he adduces any new evidence in support of his charge that the President of the United States had interfered in the Vermont Election. "Any new evidence," says the Editors: Then it is plain that the defeated Governor has failed to obtain any evidence at all, since it is acknowledged on all hands that his first attempt was wholly abortive.
