Frick Estate Heirs Fight Pennsylvania Tax on Inheritance

WASHINGTON— The $145,000,000 estate of the late Henry C. Frick, steel, coal and railroad magnate, was before the supreme court Friday in a suit brought by heirs against the Pennsylvania inheritance tax law.

An unusual feature was the appearance of Pennsylvania's senators on opposing sides, Senator Pepper representing the Frick heirs and Senator Reed supporting the state.

Validity of the Pennsylvania statute is involved directly in the suit, the Frick heirs endeavoring to set aside inheritance taxes amounting to about $1,500,000, including taxes imposed by Pennsylvania on the Frick art collection in New York, valued at over $13,000,000, as well as property in other states.
