River News To-day-Arrival of the Tonawanda.-The Alliance, Captain James R. Kelley, sailed yesterday for Charleston, South Carolina. The Tonawanda, overdue from Savannah, Georgia, reached the Southern Mail Steamship Company's wharf at 8 P. M. last evening. She sailed from Savannah at 8 A. M. on Friday last. The captain reports the weather unusually heavy outside, with gales from the northeast, until she passed Cape Hatteras, where it was very rough. Fog was never so dense along the coast. On Sunday it became so dense that they were compelled to slow the ship and run her on half steam. Her freight list was as follows: 400 bales of cotton, 400 bags cotton seed, 250 railroad wheels, 600 empty ale and porter barrels, 400 bales domestics, with about 500 additional packages of mixed merchandise. She had already at 12 M. discharged her cargo, and is to go up to Kensington this afternoon to be placed on the dock, her wheel being loose. In consequence, her sailing day will be Saturday next, instead of Wednesday.
