From Lucerne, Switzerland, it is reported that the restoration of the famous old Chateau of Chillon, in the Lake of Geneva, which was built in the beginning of the 13th century and has become celebrated by Byron's 'The Prisoner of Chillon,' is progressing slowly, but surely, most minute care being taken to preserve the original style and coloring in every detail. The hall is nearly finished, the fine ceiling, constructed in 1489 by Aymonet Corniaux, architect to the dukes of Savoy, was in an excellent state of preservation.
