ATHENS, Greece, Nov. 23.—In the recent municipal elections held in Greece, the Communist Party carried every municipality in Thessaly, Macedonia and Thrace by overwhelming majorities, despite the fact that many of the leaders of the Greek Communist Party are in jail and some have been exiled.

In the other parts of Greece, the reactionaries won by small majorities thru fusing their forces together in a desperate attempt to defeat the Communists.

The government party, under the leadership of the would-be Greek Mussolini, Premier Pangalos, did all that it could to keep the workers of Greece away from the ballot box and after the election did all it could to hinder the counting of the ballots.

Many Communist ballots were destroyed by them in an effort to defeat the workers' candidates.

Call Reactionaries' Conference.

Premier Pangalos is now calling a conference of all the reactionary leaders of Greece in order to decide on steps of crushing their Communist opposition.

Pangalos, who became premier because of his promises to end the persecutions of the workers and the Communists and who calls himself an upholder of the republic, is forced to call this conference at which leaders of the two royalist factions in Greece will meet with him to devise repressive measures against the Communists.

To Combat Communists.

In January, the elections to the Greek senate, which has been created recently, will take place. In March, elections will be held for representatives to the lower chamber of parliament, the boule. The conference being called by Pangalos will discuss the fusion of the royalists and the Pangalos followers into one party to combat the Communists in these elections. The conference also intends to devise means of keeping the Communists off the ballot.

Declare Elections Void.

In Xanthi and Saloniki, where the Communists won the municipal elections, the Pangalos government refused to allow them to take their places and declared the election void.

This is undoubtedly what they will attempt in those parts of Greece where the Communists were able to carry all municipalities.
