Founding a Professorship. - The Alumni of the Princeton Theological Seminary have given to the venerable Dr. Hodge a splendid testimonial of their esteem. The fiftieth anniversary of his election to the Chair of the Oriental and Biblical Languages (the 24th inst.) was made the occasion for a great gathering of learned men at Princeton, and they came bringing gifts. The munificent sum of forty-four thousand dollars was laid upon the Directors' table for the purpose of endowing a Professorship in the Seminary, which shall bear the name of the venerable man, who is called the Nestor of the Presbyterian Church in America. In addition to this the Alumni gave Dr. Hodge a pleasant little surprise in the shape of a purse containing $15,000, the same being intended for his own personal use. - Baltimore American.
