THE GAZETTE.
MARTINSBURG, Feb. 13, 1823.

The Editor of the Gazette tenders to his friends and fellow-citizens his thanks for the very liberal and extensive patronage that he has received since his commencement. His exertions shall be unabated to merit a continuance of that confidence and friendship, which has been so unreservedly bestowed on him, by the citizens of Berkeley and the adjoining counties.

In augmenting the size of his paper, (and that too with a hope of increasing its usefulness,) he was fearful of its not meeting with the approbation of its old friends; he, however, is glad to find, that it has, with a few, a very few exceptions, not only met with the general approbation of its old patrons and supporters, but that since the first of January, one hundred and twenty new subscribers have been added to the list. This is flattering.
