NO LIFE LOST ON U. S. VESSEL
(By International News Service.)
Washington, March 20.-Chairman Benson of the shipping board was advised today that no loss of life had occurred in the explosion aboard the United States shipping-board vessel Saccaria which caught fire at sea and ignited oil stored aboard off the North Carolina coast.
The vessel today was towed into Newport News for repairs. An official investigation disclosed that a chemical light on the vessel exploded and set fire to supplies of oil nearby. A panic ensued and in the confusion a few members of the crew sustained injuries, though none of a serious nature.
The vessel, 6,000 tons, was bound from New York to Africa.
