Legislature of New-Hampshire.
In the proceedings of the House of Representatives Dec. 8, published in our last, through the hurry of business, and owing to the short time we had to make extracts from the Journal, several errors escaped in the extract we made from His Excellency the Governor's objections sent down to the House for his not approving an act giving Josiah Sanborn a new trial in a certain action, &c. we therefore embrace this opportunity to publish an exact copy from the Journal, which follows, viz.
The objections was in the following words.
The bill is predicated on the principle that the record of the verdict of the jury was altered--If this was the case, the Governor would presume, until he had evidence of the contrary, that the Court had sufficient legal reasons therefor ; but having no other view of the case but what is contained in the petition and proposed bill he cannot approve the bill.

Tuesday, Dec. 19-3 o'clock, P. M.
BILL directing the mode of levying
A
executions against town corporations,
and certain other proceedings, having had
three several readings passed to be enacted.
Upon reading and considering of a peti-
tion from Edward Sargent and others, pray-
ing for liberty to build a bridge over Saga-
more's creek from Portsmouth to Rye,
voted that the prayer thereof be granted,
and that they have leave to bring in a bill.
Voted that John Goddard, Joseph Cilley
and William Plummer, Esquires, be a com-
mittee to settle the accounts between this
State and the Treasurer thereof in the re-
cess of the General Court, and report at the
next session their proceedings, together with
the state of the Treasury.
The committee to report what compen-
sation shall be made the Reverend gentle-
men of the clergy for their officiating as
chaplains the present session, reported that
the Rev. gentlemen of the clergy, receive
out of the treasury six dollars each for their
services, which report was accepted, and
resolved that orders issue accordingly.
Voted a committee to consider of a bill
for making passable the road leading from
Barlow's mills (so called) in Stratford, to
the great road in Shelburne, to report such
alterations and amendments as they should
judge necessary.
A bill in addition to the laws of this
State respecting paupers, having had three
several readings passed to be enacted.
The vote respecting the General Court
meeting at Hopkinton in June next, came
down from the Hon. Senate for the follow-
ing amendment, that the word Hopkinton
be erased, and the word Concord inserted,
which amendment was read, and motion
made to concur with the amendment. which
motion did not prevail, and the House ad-
hered to their former vote, which vote was
again sent down to the Senate.
The following Resolve came down from
the Hon. Senate for concurrence.
In Senate Dec. 19, 1797.
Resolved that his Excellency the Gover-
nor be, & he hereby is authorized & requested to procure and transmit to each State of the Union, at the expense of this State, one volume of the laws of the State of New-Hampshire, and request of them an exchange of laws, which resolve was read and concurred.
The committee appointed to take under consideration the propriety of appointing a committee to procure two hundred printed copies of Turnbull's description of the Philadelphia prison, &c. reported in favor of appointing a committee for the purpose, which report was accepted.
December 20.
The following vote came down from the Hon. Senate for concurrence.
In Senate Dec. 19, 1797.
Voted that the Rev. Mr. Gray of Dover, be, and he hereby is appointed and requested to preach an Election sermon before the General Court in June next, which vote was read, considered and accepted.
Voted a committee to take into consideration the propriety of sundry locations being classed with Conway and Bartlett for representation, and the constitutionality of the inhabitants of said locations being legal voters for the choice of a Representative.
A bill granting liberty to certain persons to build a bridge over Sagamore's creek; having had three several readings passed to be enacted.
The committee to take into consideration the propriety of sundry locations being classed with Conway and Bartlett for representation, and the constitutionality of the inhabitants of said locations being legal voters for the choice of a Representative, Reported, that they have examined the constitution as it relates to the subject mentioned, and give it as their opinion that the inhabitants of the locations classed with Conway and Bartlett, have a clear constitutional right of voting for a Representative to the General Court, which report was accepted.
Voted a committee to report in what manner the laws passed at the present session, and those passed at future sessions shall be distributed; who reported that the laws be distributed by way of the post-offices, which report was accepted.
Thursday, Dec. 21.
A message came down by the Secretary, informing, that His Excellency the Governor, with advice of Council had thought fit to adjourn the General Court to the fourth Wednesday in May next, then to meet at Hopkinton.
