Full Text

Large Haul of Drum Fish at Madison.
The Field Brothers of Madison caught in their pound net the other morning, 325 of these musical fish, their average weight being 50 lbs. each. There were some 600 or more in the pound, but they were not able to capture them all. The drumming of these fish in a still day can be heard for miles, and the tremendous music these fellows made led many to suppose that a rebel privateer was in our harbor. These fish are very rarely seen on this coast: another instance where so many were taken is not within the memory of the "oldest inhabitant."—Palladium.
