On Friday the 2d instant, the joint committee of the Senate and House of Representatives of this state, appointed to visit the Pennsylvania Hospital, made the following report.

The committee appointed to join a committee of the Senate, and visit the Pennsylvania Hospital, made report, which was read as follows, viz.

That they have performed that service December 24th last, and found the apartments very clean and in good order.

The committee had the satisfaction to observe from the annual accounts, that the capital stock at interest has increased this year four hundred and twenty seven pounds one shilling and eight pence, and that it now amounts to twenty thousand eight hundred and five pounds thirteen shillings and ten pence,

The legacies and contributions of the last year, are four hundred and ninety-one pounds sixteen shillings.

The museum is just improved by several valuable anatomical preparations, and a remittance of two hundred pounds sterling, is on its way to London to enrich the Library, the funds for which are raised by young students who pay for the privilege of attending the practice of the house and for the use of the books.

There have been received into the Hospital in the course of the year, one hundred and ninety-five patients, viz. eighty-seven poor and one hundred and eight pay, of whom sixteen were lunatic. Of these 68 were cured, 9 relieved, 32 died, 6 were taken by their friends. 6 eloped. 1 sent to the City Hospital with the yellow fever, 73 remain, of whom 54 are lunatics. 195

In addition to these, it appears that three hundred and two poor out-patients have been attended at their private dwellings with medicine and advice. 224 of them have been cured, 13 relieved, 17 died, 4 removed to the City Hospital with the yellow fever, 2 taken by their friends. 4 returned to other physicians, 1 delivered in child bed, 37 remain under care. 302

At the time the committee visited the Hospital, there were seventy-one patients in it, viz. thirty poor and forty-one pay. Of whom— 2 were from England, 1 France, 6 Scotland, 6 Germany, 16 Ireland, 1 Virginia, 5 Jersey, 16 Philadelphia, 2 County of Philadelphia, 16 other counties of this commonwealth. 71

All of these are comfortably provided for and well taken care of.
