The Cincinnati Gazette of the 14th inst. corroborates the information detailed by the correspondent of the National Intelligencer, relative to the loss of the steam-boat Mechanic, and the narrow escape of the Nation's Guest and his companions. Governor Carroll and suite, Governor Coles, of Illinois, General O'Fallon, and many other gentlemen were on board. The accident happened on the 8th inst. a little before 12 o'clock at night, near Deer Creek, 200 miles below Louisville. The boat sunk in 18 feet water.
