Judge Fines Head Of "Fake" School

CHARLOTTE, N. C.-(ANP)-Dr. W. T. Riley, who claims he was once a chiropodist, was fined $100 and court costs by Judge J. C. Sedberry here last week on a charge of operating a bogus school for Negro practical nurses.

Appearing against him were nine former students of the Washington Professional College, of which the doctor is president, who said that he had promised for monetary compensation to make them licensed practical nurses.

In levying the sentence, the judge also ordered Dr. Riley to make some "restitutions" to the students and to close down his school. The school has been operating since 1949.
