SENATORIAL.—A dispatch was received from George C. Gorham to-night, urging all his friends to make a quick and sure fight for Sargent. The minority declare that they will be ready to go into caucus any night next week, but not before. The Democracy seem to take no interest in the fight, leaving the Republicans to come to a dead lock, then they are willing to come in for the least objectionable candidate. Sargent's count in to-night's Bulletin is laughed at even by his friends, who think its correspondent has been imposed upon. The highest Sargent can count is not exceeding thirty-nine, and they seem too anxious about the result to have all these secured.

Cole expresses confidence in the result if the members can be made to understand the situation fully. The news of his appointment in the United States Senate to the Appropriations, Postoffice and Public Buildings Committees has changed votes, who favor his re-election as those Committees are of benefit to the Pacific coast.

Felton quietly awaits the disagreement of the ruling factions and his chances as compromise candidate.

A careful count of sure members places Sargent at thirty-two, Cole twenty-one, Felton at eleven, and the balance waiting for cause, with a predilection to the strongest man.—San Francisco Chronicle's dispatch, 7th.
