COMMUNICATION.
When men club, it is generally with a social or benevolent purpose. This may almost be stated as an axiom.
But when a trio, or quartetto, closet themselves to attempt to write down an excursive writer of paragraphs, let these gentry receive, as due to them, the following; and thereafter for ever hold their pens, except in a better cause :
"Write gem'man write! like thine inspirer beer,
Tho' stale, not ripe; though thin yet never clear,
So sweetly mawkish, and so smoothly dull,
Heady, not strong, o'erflowing tho' not full."*
