Full Text
Night before last, it commenced raining slightly, and all day yesterday the sky was overcast with clouds, and showers came down every now and then. We suppose that this is just an opening rain incident upon the moon's change or the winter solstice, and that it won't amount to anything serious as far as the river claims are concerned. The weather wiseacres say that it isn't going to do any damage, and we suppose they know. If the river should rise suddenly now, there is no telling how great the injury would be. We hope it will confine itself to the flumes for awhile yet, and "give the boys a chance for even," if nothing else. We have a notion that this is a sort of second-handed equinoctial gale, and that it will pass off without raining much more.

Event Details
Light rain commenced the night before last, with overcast skies and intermittent showers all day yesterday. Speculated to be minor, related to moon's change or winter solstice, unlikely to seriously affect river claims. Weather experts predict no damage. Hopes it stays in flumes to give 'the boys' a chance, described as a secondary equinoctial gale that will pass with little more rain.
