The personnel of our barrack was slightly enlarged when the Ft. Sheridan Caravan came back to the Personnel Center. New additions being mainly in the Finance Section of our new-born Separation Center. The newcomers are: T/Sgt Matheson of Massachusetts, S/Sgt Bailey of California, Tec 3 Jacobstein of Missouri, and Tec 4 Ellis of Minnesota. Their first comment after reaching the Twin Cities was "Chicago was never like this."
All of us hope to have them work on our Discharge Pay some day soon.
Sgt Joe Elliott dreads that long hike from the main PX in the wee hours of the morning... We were proud to see Pfc Harris Nelson's picture in the Yank magazine. He is certainly a versatile performer. Pfc Rollie Winebrenner was far from an impatient father-to-be while awaiting the arrival of the stork. It's a fine baby boy at the Winebrenner household and Rollie's been generously doling out cigars all week. Privates Harrel and Lynch are an inseparable pair of buddies. Cpl Galbincea served as best man at a chum's wedding last weekend. Personnel Sgt Willie Meier was hospitalized for a week at Ft. Sheridan, but Willie looked as good as new when he reported back.
An orchid to Pvt Moseley for his ever instructive and interesting lectures as part of our Orientation Program. Two of the best talks were on the B-29s and the G. I. Bill of Rights.
We understand that T/Sgt Joyce has a heart throb in Saint Paul. Pvt Harry Naatz asserts that it is an asset to wear the uniform in the Twin Cities. Makes one act and feel younger, eh, Harry?
