The strength, skill and presence of mind of Henry Ladouceur, 13 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ladouceur of 13 Groveland avenue saved the life of Leonora Zamagni, 15, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amadeo Zamagni of 139 Mechanics street, last Friday. In company with several other children, they were swimming in the French river in the late afternoon, when Miss Zamagni, who is unable to swim, went out beyond her depth and set up a cry for help. Henry, who only learned to swim at the St. Mary's Boy Scout Camp last year, plunged in after her. He reached her as she was going down for the third time. Although she is not only older but also taller and heavier, Henry seized her and swam with her to safety.
Henry, who is a member of the 2nd Troop of the St. Mary's Boy Scouts and of the seventh grade of St. Mary's school, was inclined to make light of his performance when interviewed. "She was sinking and I just jumped in and saved her," was his version of the affair.
