Hon. A. F. McCormick, of Portsmouth, was in the city Monday on business, and in a conversation with the Leader, when asked as to the gubernatorial situation, said that personally he was for Daugherty. When the suggestion that Daugherty was a young man and could wait awhile was offered he said, yes, but the fact that he was a young man appealed strongly to him, as he liked to see the young men succeed. He admits that being a young man himself probably has something to do with the feeling. In regard to Judge Nash, he thinks that the Judge lacks the energy to make a successful campaign for the nomination. He should have been nominated four years ago, and would have been if he had shown the energy that is necessary to a successful campaign. Mr. McCormick says that although Scioto county is very friendly to Daugherty, there is a possibility of the vote going to Grosvenor, who he is sure wants the nomination, although he denies that he does and refuses to talk of the situation or prospects.
