Euterpean Club Concert

The concert given last evening at the high school auditorium by Mrs. Cora Cox Lucas, of Columbia, assisted by the Euterpean Music club of Union, proved a most enjoyable affair.

The stage was beautifully decorated in Scottish broom flower and lovely potted plants, the colors of the club, gold and blue, being carried out.

The audience seemed to enjoy the evening and repeatedly encored Mrs. Lucas.

Mrs. Lucas gave an instructive talk on the National Federation of Music clubs and told of the great Biennial to be held at Asheville, N. C., June 6-9. This is to be the greatest musical event in the South in many years. After her talk a beautiful bouquet of carnations was presented her from the Euterpean Music club by Miss Vera Murrah; and after one of her musical numbers, Miss Agnes Rice, president of the McDowell Junior Music club, presented her with a bouquet of roses.

The following is the program which was enjoyed by all:

Chorus—"Springtime,"
by
Euterpean Music club.

Vocal solo. "Then You'll Remember." by Miss Catherine Layton.

Introduction of Mrs. Lucas by Mrs. J. Frost Walker, president Euterpean Music club.

Talk by Mrs. Cora Cox Lucas, president South Carolina Federation of Music clubs.

Piano solo by Miss Ruth Parham,
member of McDowell Junior Music club.

Violin duet by Mrs. Lee Kennedy and Miss Catherine Thomson.

Piano solo by Mrs. Cora Cox Lucas.

Vocal quartet by Misses Catherine Layton, Mary Jones. Mesdames D. H. Martin and Spencer Perrin.
