The butchering of this hog was witnessed by about 500 people of Shenandoah County and other parts of the State, composed of farmers and business men of the county. The weighing was done by our present County Treasurer J. D. Harpine.
He began feeding this hog on Sept. 20, 1923 and fed same till Feb. 27, 1924, total of 160 days, taking on in weight of 466 lbs. weight of meat after cut hams 151, shoulders 124, sides 139, ribs 31, backbone 35, tenderloins 13, sausage 97, lard 320, cracklings 28, ears and feet 12 and 3 gallon puddings.
The box of $62.15 was won by Mrs. Emma Coffman, of St. Luke Va.
