Will Test State Pool Room Law
The state supreme court is to be called upon to decide the constitutionality of the law passed by the special session of the legislature in 1909, covering the admittance of minors to pool rooms where liquor is not sold.
Axel Anderson, proprietor of a pool room on K street in Tacoma, arrested on a charge of violating this statute, has decided to make a test case. It is understood he will be backed by the State Poolroom association.
It was the intention of the legislature, it is contended, to keep minors out of all kinds of pool rooms in Washington, whether liquor is sold or not. Owners of pool rooms declare this is going beyond the powers of the legislature and that the law can only refer to places where intoxicating liquor is sold.
