Change in the Post Office.

The President last week nominated Esq. John B. Gowan to supersede Mrs. Susan H. Burbridge as postmaster at this place. Mrs. Burbridge's third term expired on the 10th ult., she, having been appointed by President Grant in 1870. In removing her the President is but carrying out his expressed determination to fill the lucrative offices with Stalwart Republican voters. Esq. Gowan is one of the oldest and best known citizens of Hopkinsville and his nomination will probably be confirmed this week.
