The Stonington Telegraph gives an account of a murderous affair which took place on board a vessel [schooner Harriet] in that harbor.

It appears that on the evening of the 7th ult. a dispute arose between a man named Dexter Adams, and Robertson, a Scotchman, belonging to the vessel. The master of the vessel observing the quarrel at about 10 o'clock, ordered them to go below. They obeyed, Adams first taking something from his chest, and retiring to his berth, Robertson soon after laid hold of him, when he was pushed back. and his life threatened in case he did not desist. But Robertson continued to molest his antagonist, when the latter suddenly sprung forth and stabbed him in several places in the side. The Scotchman fell. never to rise again. It was afterwards found that the knife of the man-slayer had entered the heart of its victim. When the perpetrator found that he had killed the man. or nearly so, he manifested a degree of sorrow by weeping. After a Grand Jury examination, he was committed to New-London jail. His age is but 19 years—that of Robertson was 26.
