PETERSBURG, Va. (ANP)- Leading educators from all over the nation made the campus of Virginia State college the educational capital of the nation as Dr. R. P. Daniel was officially inaugurated as president of the school, Saturday, Oct. 14.

Students and visitors jammed the auditorium of Virginia hall at 10:30 a.m. for the official ceremonies. Leonard J. Muse of the Virginia State Board of Education presided. Blake T. Newton, president of the state board, officially inducted Dr. Daniel into office.

Heading the list of speakers was Gov. John S. Battle of Virginia. He brought official salutes from the commonwealth.

Other speakers included: Dr. John W. Gore, president of Florida A&M college; the Rev. Paul A. Bishop, president of the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina; Dr. W. T. Sanger, president of the Medical College of Virginia; Dr. Rufus B. Atwood, president of Kentucky State college; and Dr. Dowell J. Howard, superintendent of public instruction for Virginia.

Dr. Richard I. McKinney, acting director of religious activities at Virginia State, gave the invocation, and Dr. Mordecai W. Johnson, president of Howard university, delivered the closing prayer.

Music was supplied by the school's A Cappella choir directed by Robert A. Henry and David E. Carroll at the organ.

Other activities of the day included a luncheon at Jones dining hall, a parade and review by the college ROTC, and the president's reception.
