OBSERVE in your paper of last week, a short piece addressed to the public by a Mr. John Mosby, who says he was raised in Powhatan; I being also a native of that place, and not having ever heard of a person of that name but myself, presume that there are some who may suppose me to be the author. Lest any unfavorable impression should have arisen in the minds of any from such a supposition, and also deeming it an indispensable duty, which I owe to my friend as well as myself, to counteract any such impressions, I beg you to insert this in your paper. Should any more publications appear with the same signature, I would thank you to date them at some place so as to leave no doubt with respect to the author: by the doing of which you will oblige, sir, yours
