Full Text

A Steam Boat run mad.—The Steam Boat Belle Air, on her last trip from St. Louis, was guilty of a freak that surpasses anything we have read in the history of Mormonism or Millerism. Being tired of following the old muddy track of the Mississippi, and fancying she was a balloon (we suppose) she ran off the track of the Mississippi, and fancying over the town of Chester below St. Louis, passing over the tops of some of the houses and kicking over a few others. In her course she ran into a brick house and demolished it! About one square below she ran into a stone house, shipping an immense quantity of stones between the bow to the wheel house, and demolishing her kitchen, besides doing much other damage, tearing off her guard from the bow. One man was knocked overboard, but finally saved. The accident happened about 13 o'clock on Saturday night last.
